kitchen Westminster

The kitchen in this Listed house was in the lower ground floor with no dining space at that level - a dumb waiter connected it with the dining room on the ground floor - a traditional formal arrangement for cooking and eating. A solution which led to a more informal socialising space was to move the kitchen into the rear of the ground floor and combine this with the dining area. A dark porcelain tile which started at the entrance was laid throughout this floor to give a continuous welcoming feel straight from the street. The kitchen was built and detailed by a craftsman - the details were simple but felt appropriate for the house.
